Why Naturopathy

Anxiety
 

       I recognize how easy it is to become over-programmed and overwhelmed by the fast-paced demands of living in this  area.  Being constantly connected via a smartphone and other devices can create a sense of loneliness, otherness, and inadequacy.  With little room for the mind to quiet and the body to find peace, it's easy to get down on yourself.

    Together we will create room for your mind to quiet and your body to find peace by incorporating mindfulness (being able to observe your inner experiences) and breathwork.  I would be honored to help you feel more connected to yourself and the people that are most important to you.

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)

    Learning to live with executive functioning differences can be overwhelming, frustrating, and maddening.  So many of my clients come to me with labels they've heard other use to describe them "lazy, unmotivated, disorganized, flaky, dramatic, emotional."  

 

    I will help you process the shame and stigma associated with the negative narrative you inherited from society, and help you celebrate your strengths. 

  I have worked with kids and teens with ADHD in the school setting with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), in adoption and foster care, and also through play and talk therapy.  I have also worked with college students and parents with ADHD.  I'm also interested in the intersection between ADHD and chronic illness.

     Life is full of beginnings and endings.  Most of us don't like endings.  And we especially don't like them when they are unanticipated, such as getting a life-changing diagnosis, losing someone you love, or losing part of your identity. 

 

    Together, we will make room for all your very valid feelings of shock, anger, sadness, and depression and work towards acceptance of your new normal.

Trauma

        We hold traumatic experiences in our bodies and minds and it's important to incorporate both in resolving and healing from trauma.  The terror and vulnerability of traumatic events such as childhood abuse, sexual assault, witnessing domestic violence, and medical trauma, create an imprint on our mind, our brain, and our bodies.  Bodies become alert and hypervigilant to certain reminders.  Often clients report experiencing flashbacks and nightmares.  Other times, clients describe a sense of numbness or inability to feel.  It can take tremendous effort to keep functioning. 

 

       Together we will explore how your experience of trauma changed you, and how it presents in your day to day, keeping you locked revisiting the past, or anticipating more suffering in the future.  In therapy we will work on tuning into the body and mind to help it to know that the danger has past, and to recreate safety and groundedness in the present moment.  This will allow you the freedom to live in the present.

Chronic Illness/Chronic Pain

    Being in pain or living with bodily limitations can be extremely stressful and disorienting.  It can negatively impact your view of yourself and others and is often a lived grief experience.  Together we will process your feelings of helplessness, vulnerability, and fear and help you advocate for the support you need and deserve.
